Ko tā mātou mahi | The role

We're seeking a Senior Communications Adviser | Kaiārahi Matua Whakawhitiwhiti Kōrero to join our high performing, tight-knit Communications team. We're looking for someone who is positive, proactive, self-managing and wants to work for an organisation dedicated to supporting, developing and advocating for the arts. We're open to applications from senior communications/PR practitioners from a range of backgrounds.

As Kaiārahi Matua Whakawhitiwhiti Kōrero, you'll be expected to:

  • Develop, implement and maintain communications strategies and plans for Toi Aotearoa programmes, projects, initiatives and events.
  • Develop clear and effective communications material appropriate to target audiences on relevant platforms.
  • Establish and maintain a strong network of media contacts, and identify and develop media opportunities.
  • Develop strong relationships within the Communications team and across the organisation.
  • Contribute to the development of our organisation's responsiveness to Māori and Pacific peoples, including support for Te Kaupapa o Toi Aotearoa – our organisational development programme and initiatives.

Ngā pūmanawatanga ōu | What you'll bring

The person in this position will work across a variety of initiatives, projects and audiences. You'll be involved in projects ranging from regular funding rounds to high-profile awards and events. Be prepared to work hard, tautoko your teammates and their mahi, as well as get involved in team activities.

  • A relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent on-the-job experience.
  • Proven communications and/or media experience, including the use of a wide variety of digital platforms.
  • Experience in developing, planning and implementing communications strategies and plans.
  • Highly developed communication skills – both verbal and (particularly) written.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and collaboration skills.
  • Project and event management expertise.
  • Strong multi-tasking and prioritisation skills.
  • A high level of initiative, proactivity, collaboration and positive energy.
