As a Medical Receptionist, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring our clinics operate smoothly and efficiently, supporting our clinical teams in delivering outstanding patient care.
White Cross Ascot is a 24/7 urgent care clinic in Remuera, Auckland, providing comprehensive treatment for accidents, minor injuries, and illnesses, including cuts, burns, sprains, broken bones, flu, and asthma. Our skilled doctors and nurses offer services like plastering, suturing, wound care, and on-site x-rays, ensuring prompt and high-quality care. The team is warm, multilingual, and ready to guide patients through additional care if needed. Conveniently located on the ground floor of Ascot Hospital, the clinic offers walk-in access, on-site pharmacy, café, lab services, and parking, making it an accessible and welcoming place to work and provide care.
WORKING HOURS:
The clinic is open from Monday to Sunday from 8 am to 11 pm. The Medical receptionist will be required to work 0.9 FTE across these operational hours on a 5-day roster per week.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reception
Professionally greet and assist patients and visitors.
- Efficiently manage patient flow.
- Handle phone calls, messages, and appointments accurately.
- Provide courteous assistance and escalate inquiries when necessary.
Manage patient enrolment.
Waiting Room
- Keep patients informed about wait times and emergencies.
Monitor and promptly address patient needs in the waiting room.
Accounting
- Accurately handle patient invoices and claims.
- Process payments and manage banking tasks.
Complete various forms and maintain document accuracy.
Privacy and Security
Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to security protocols.
Comply with all health and safety procedures and protocols.
KEY SELECTION CRITERIA:
Qualifications, Skills, and Knowledge
- Post-secondary qualification (Desirable).
- Experience in medical reception or administration (Desirable).
- Customer service background, Kiwi Host or similar training (Advantageous).
- Excellent customer service, communication, and numerical skills.
- Experience with cash handling and payments.
- Well-developed computer literacy.
- Experience working in fast-paced and high-demand environments.

- Demonstrates empathy, tolerance, and understanding, especially with distressed patients.
- Effective time management and adaptability.
- Strong interpersonal skills, negotiation, conflict management, and problem-solving abilities.
- Someone committed to health equity and cultural competency and can demonstrate an understanding of Tikanga Māori, Kawa Māori, and Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
Other Requirements
- Proof of legal right to work in New Zealand (Essential).
- NZ Driver's license (Desirable).
