The Opportunity
We are seeking a highly experienced and driven Senior Project Manager to join our Wellington Buildings team. Work alongside and help lead a motivated, close-knit team that values collaboration, growth, and delivering excellence. In this role, you'll lead complex vertical build projects from start to finish, ensuring exceptional outcomes for our clients. You'll also play a key part in shaping the team's direction -mentoring others, contributing to a high-performance culture, and supporting the strategic growth of our Wellington office.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage project teams, ensuring delivery on time, within scope, and within budget.
- Provide technical expertise and strategic advice throughout design, procurement, and construction phases.
- Actively engage with clients, understanding their needs and maintaining strong relationships.
- Contribute to the leadership and development of the Wellington Buildings team, fostering collaboration and professional growth.
- Drive business development efforts, including client meetings, proposals, and tenders.
- Prepare and present technical papers at industry events, showcasing Frequency's expertise.
- Develop and implement project management plans aligned with client requirements.
- Identify, manage, and mitigate project risks to ensure successful outcomes.
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety obligations and company policies.
About You
To succeed in this role, you will bring:
- 10–15 years plus of relevant industry experience with a proven track record in managing vertical build projects in New Zealand.
- Strong experience across design, procurement, and contract management phases.
- Demonstrated leadership experience, including line management and team development.
- Consultancy and client-side project management experience is highly desirable.
- Experience in seismic projects and complex building upgrades is advantageous.
- Excellent communication skills, with strong emotional intelligence and the ability to influence at all levels.
- A robust professional network and strong industry presence, particularly in the Wellington region.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Strong commercial acumen, with experience in managing project financials and performance.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications.
