About the role

We are seeking an experienced Estimator to join our team at Lane Electrical Limited in East Tamaki. This is a full-time position where you will be responsible for providing accurate and competitive estimates for a range of electrical contracting projects. With your strong background in construction estimating, you will play a crucial role in supporting the growth and success of our business.

What you'll be doing

  • Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for electrical contracting projects based on detailed drawings, specifications, and other relevant information
  • Liaise with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers to gather pricing information and ensure estimates are comprehensive
  • Assist in the tender submission process, including the preparation of bid proposals
  • Maintain detailed records and documentation of all estimating activities
  • Continuously monitor and analyse industry trends, material costs, and labour rates to improve the accuracy of estimates
  • Collaborate with the MD to ensure estimates align with project goals and constraints

What we're looking for

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in construction estimating, preferably within the electrical contracting industry
  • Strong technical knowledge of electrical systems, materials, and construction methods
  • Proficiency in using estimating software and other relevant tools (Simpro and GroundPlan)
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and communicate effectively with stakeholders
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy
