Job Description

Due to continued growth in the energy sector, we're expanding our team and looking for a Senior or Principal Primary Engineer to join our AECOM Energy team in Hamilton or Auckland. This is a key technical role supporting clients across the generation, industrial, and transmission & distribution sectors, working on medium and high-voltage (MV/HV) electrical design projects throughout New Zealand.

How you'll make a difference:

  • Lead and deliver conceptual and detailed designs of primary electrical systems.
  • Select appropriate electrical equipment to meet technical and client requirements.
  • Produce and review electrical drawings (with CAD team support).
  • Prepare technical specifications and construction contract documentation.
  • Conduct construction monitoring and on-site inspections to ensure design compliance.
  • Support the commissioning of new electrical and control systems.
Qualifications

The qualities that help you thrive:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering (or equivalent) 
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in MV or HV equipment design e.g. cables, switchgear, transformers, etc.
  • Familiarity with engineering software such as CDEGS, CYMCAP or similar
  • Valid driver's licence
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office is desirable but not essential
