Join New Zealand's most connected data centre and help shape the future of edge infrastructure
Data centres are one of the fastest growing sectors in the world currently. As AI, cloud, gaming, streaming, and global connectivity explode, data centres are booming, and there's no slowing down.
This is one of the most exciting industries in tech right now and the future belongs to the people who help run it.
We're Datacentre220, New Zealand's most connected data centre. 100% locally owned, strategically located in Auckland's CBD, and trusted by some of the biggest names in tech, telco, and SaaS. This is where the country's most connected infrastructure lives, grows, and powers everything from cloud services to SaaS platforms.
And now, we're hiring a Data Centre Engineer who wants to grow with us.
Why this role matters
This isn't a job where you're just turning up to monitor blinking lights. You'll be hands-on in a live environment that never sleeps and is scaling fast. As more global platforms land in New Zealand and workloads explode, this is your chance to become a key technical lead in one of the most essential roles in modern infrastructure. Why Datacentre220?
- Be part of a booming global industry: data centres are where cloud meets the physical world. Skills you build here are in demand everywhere.
- We're growing fast: as NZ's most connected edge facility, we're expanding capacity, capability, and partnerships.
- Real ownership: This is a role where your voice matters. You'll work directly with leadership and have a say in how things get done.
- Local company with global calibre: no offshore hierarchy or red tape. You work directly with decision-makers, top-tier vendors, and high-profile customers.
- Career runway – management support, upskilling, certification pathways, and long-term role progression.
What you'll be doing
This role is hands-on and varied. You'll be:
- Running the mission-critical engine room that powers cloud platforms, networks, and content delivery across NZ and beyond
- Working directly with both local and global customers who rely on our facility to keep their platforms live and always running
- Keeping our infrastructure humming - from power and cooling to monitoring, optimisation, and everything in between
- Working closely with vendors, maintenance partners, and network providers to deliver best-in-class uptime
- Providing smart hands and onsite support that helps customers scale, deploy, and fix in real time
- Helping shape improvements, efficiencies, and upgrades as we expand capacity and capability
- Being part of a collaborative team that values initiative, curiosity, and getting things done
You'll need to bring
- 7+ years' engineering experience in a telco or data centre environment
- Hands-on knowledge of switchboards, UPS, HVAC, generators, transformers, fire and BMS systems
- Experience working with subcontractors and technical vendors
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build trusted relationships
- Relevant tertiary qualification in an engineering discipline
What success looks like
You'll be the trusted expert that keeps us running smoothly. You'll thrive in a collaborative team, take pride in uptime and reliability, and always look for smart ways to support customers and improve how we do things. Above all, you'll continue to make Datacentre220 the most reliable, connected and forward-thinking data centre operator in New Zealand.
Ready to own the next step in your data centre career? Apply now and join us on the adventure.
