Health Care Assistant – Primary Health Care

Te whiwhinga mahi - The opportunity

We have a position available for dedicated Health Care Assistant to join our Māngere Clinic Team. You will work closely with our team of Administrators, General Practitioners and Registered Nurses to ensure patients and whānau receive expert care. This is a full-time position where you will work rostered shifts between 8.00am and 6.00pm, Monday to Friday.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include checking our patients' vital signs, entering their information into our database, ensuring the triage bay is stocked with the appropriate equipment and assisting our team with administrative support. You will be someone who enjoys working with whānau in the community and will have a genuine interest in healthcare. You will ideally have experience working with Māori and Pasifika whānau. 

Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako - Skills and experience

  • The ability to communicate effectively with patients and their whānau
  • Experience using Medtech is highly desirable
  • Willingness to learn and keen to undertake professional development
  • A team player who looks after and cares about patients and colleagues
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience performing complex procedures e.g. blood pressure checks, height and weight checks is advantageous. Full training will be provided
  • Ability to speak Te Reo Māori or another language would be an advantage
