About the role

Are you an experienced and talented Head Chef ready to lead the kitchen at Wairarapa Village? We are seeking a passionate and skilled Head Chef to join our team on a contract basis. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing all culinary operations and ensuring the highest standards of food preparation and service for our residents and guests. The position is based in Masterton, Wellington.

What you'll be doing

• Lead and manage a team of cooks and kitchen staff to deliver exceptional dining experiences
• Plan, develop and implement creative and nutritious menus that cater to the preferences of our residents
• Oversee food ordering, inventory management and budgeting to ensure efficient operations
• Maintain strict food safety and hygiene standards
• Foster a positive and collaborative team environment in the kitchen
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of kitchen processes and procedures

What we're looking for

• Minimum 5 years' experience as a Head Chef or in a senior culinary role, preferably within the hospitality or aged care industry
• Formal culinary training and qualifications
• Exceptional cooking skills and knowledge of a wide range of cuisine styles and food preparation techniques
• Strong leadership and people management skills
• Excellent time management, problem-solving and organisational abilities
• Passion for using fresh, local and seasonal ingredients
• Commitment to maintaining high food safety and hygiene standards
