About the role

We are looking for a Junior Contract Accountant to join our team at Code Black Consulting in Northcote, Auckland. This is a 6-month contract role, with potential for extension, within our leading management accounting and budgeting consultancy. In this role, you will play a key part in supporting our clients with their financial management and analysis needs.

What you'll be doing

  1. Preparing monthly financial reports, variance analysis and budget updates for client organisations.
  2. Preparing and posting month end journals.
  3. Financial data modelling and manipulation.
  4. Supporting the month-end close and account reconciliation processes
  5. Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure financial data is accurate and up-to-date
  6. Identifying opportunities to improve financial processes and reporting

What we're looking for

  1. 1-3 years' experience in a management accounting or financial analysis role, preferably within a professional services environment
  2. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret financial data and present insights
  3. Proficient in using financial management software and spreadsheet tools (e.g. Excel, PowerBI)
  4. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  5. Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance or a related field
  6. CA/CPA or working towards a professional accounting qualification is preferred
