Teacher Aides

Permanent, Part-time, 32.5 hours per week (to be worked term time only)
This varied role involves working with individuals and/or a small group of students in a supported homeroom environment as well as within mainstream classrooms. Your daily interactions will be with the classroom teacher of the homeroom, with additional support available through the Head of Learning Support. Daily hours for this position are from 8.30am to 3.30pm, Monday to Friday.
Required Personal skills and attributes:
• Calm, patient, yet firm manner.
• Setting high expectations and a tolerance for unexpected behaviour.
• Strong communication skills, tact, and empathy.
• Demonstrate the skills of active listening.
• Proactive and able to take initiative.
• Comfortable with flexibility in a secondary environment across a range of subject areas.
Responsibilities, guided by a teacher, may include:
• Working one-to-one or in a small group with Y9-13 students in the classroom, assisting with learning.
• A reasonable level of day-to-day independence, which may include planning or modifying tasks and activities.
• Delivering specific programmes to agreed standards.
• Observing, monitoring, redirecting student(s) and acting in a positive manner to build trusting relationships with learners and other staff.
