We are looking for an energetic and motivated Team Leader for our residential houses in Nelson.

You will lead a team in supporting people to live as independently as possible. You will help them plan and work towards their goals, ensuring they are at the centre of everything you do and live a rich and fulfilling life.

There will be a mixture of morning, afternoon, and evening shifts spanning across the week. Having the flexibility to support your team across a variety of shifts is a key part of this role.

What does the role involve? - He aha te mahi a te mahi?

A Team Leader assists people with disabilities to live as independently as possible, while also leading and motivating their team.

Your day will involve a range of responsibilities and could include:

  • Activities at home and in the community that are meaningful and purposeful to the people, including maximising independence and involving whānau
  • Household duties including meal preparation, daily care routines, and personal cares
  • Working together with a team to implement personal support plans consistently, with effective and positive teamwork and communication
  • Providing people with a warm and nurturing environment that is inclusive of ideas and feedback, supporting each person towards their personal goals

What are we looking for? - He aha tā tātou e rapu ana?

  • Minimum qualification Level 3 in Health and Wellbeing required
  • People who are passionate about helping others, and who are kind and understanding
  • Previous experience in a healthcare setting preferred, including experience with disabilities and challenging behaviours
  • Full driver's licence is essential
  • Someone who has the initiative to support people to achieve their goals, is energetic, outgoing, and can think creatively
  • Respect for the thinking and lifestyle of others, even when different from your own
  • Flexibility to work overnight shifts across a roster, including weekends
  • A warm, calm, and friendly personality with a passion for supporting people to achieve positive outcomes for themselves
