CADS Pregnancy & Parental Clinician

Community Alcohol and Drug Services (CADS) is looking for a full time or part time registered health professional to work in our Pregnancy and Parental Service (PPS) based in Point Chevalier, Tāmaki Makaurau/Auckland

About us:

PPS is a well-supported multi-disciplinary regional team that works with pregnant people and parents of children under three years of age who are experiencing concerns with alcohol and/or other drug use, are disconnected from health and social services, and may be experiencing multiple and complex issues including family violence, physical and mental health issues, unstable housing, and socio-economic issues.

PPS aims to improve outcomes for unborn and young children via interventions that reduce harm and positively impact the young childrens first 1000 days of brain development, and enhance their future health-related trajectories.

Our team is resourced to provide assertive outreach and spend time developing therapeutic relationships with tangata whai I te ora and their whānau to provide evidence-based interventions which strengthen the family environment with client-led, strength-based goal planning.

About the role:

This is a case management/key working role, which includes, but is not limited to; assertive outreach, advocacy, service co-ordination and collaboration, risk assessment and safety planning, and working within harm reduction, strength-based and recovery models as well as utilising a motivational approach to support tangata whai I te ora to make significant changes in their lives.

You would be working in a well-supported team where you will develop unique expertise and skills to best support tangata whai I te ora experiencing the above issues.

About you:

We are looking for registered health professionals from a range of disciplines such asAOD clinicians , occupational therapy, and social work..

A sense of social justice, an equity focus and a commitment to working with tangata whai I te ora from a biopsychosocial approach are required. You will have excellent engagement and communication skills as well as the ability to work autonomously and within a team.

You will also have:

  • Experience working in a community setting
  • Full registration with professional body: Addiction Clinicians (DAPAANZ), nursing, social work, counselling (NZAC Te Whatu Ora accredited), psychology, occupational therapy, or related fields.
  • Full drivers licence
  • Legal right to work in NZ
  • Ability to implement Te Tiriti O Waitangi in your daily work

Preferred:

  • Clinical experience in the mental health and/or addiction or child health field or maternity setting
  • Experience working alongside health and social service providers such as Whānau Ora providers, Family Start, Oranga Tamariki, Kainga Ora, as well as other agencies and non-governmental organisations.
