About the role

This pivotal role is responsible for leading the development, management, and execution of Kia NZ's product strategy across current and future vehicle lines. The Product Manager ensures that all product specifications, lifecycle plans, positioning and market strategies align with Kia New Zealand's short and long-term organisational objectives.

Working closely with Kia factories, APAC Headquarters, and Kia Corporation, this role acts as a key liaison to support accurate communication, effective planning, negotiating and successful execution of Kia's product direction in the New Zealand market.

You will combine technical product understanding, market awareness, and commercial insight to shape Kia NZ's product portfolio. This includes conducting detailed market, competitor and customer analysis to identify opportunities, risks, and strategic pathways for future model planning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage assigned product ranges, including:
  • Developing robust internal proposals that outline trim strategies, specifications, pricing, and profitability for new products, model enhancements, and lifecycle updates.
  • Conducting regular competitor analysis, reporting, and market monitoring to ensure Kia NZ remains informed of new model launches, shifts in the competitive landscape, and emerging risks and opportunities.
  • Ensuring all product specifications communicated internally and externally are accurate and validated, including physical vehicle checks on arrival.
  • Understanding and planning for homologation requirements, regulatory standards, ANCAP considerations, and local engineering processes to ensure compliance and future-proof product planning.
  • Acting as a key interface between Kia NZ, APAC and HQ to support seamless communication, reporting and product coordination across all touchpoints.

Requirements

  • Proven ability to manage multiple complex tasks and deliver outcomes within tight timeframes.
  • Product planning or product management experience strongly preferred.
  • A genuine passion for the automotive industry is highly advantageous.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in all product-related work.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage across all levels of the business and with external partners.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, maintaining focus, structure and momentum.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and build strategic recommendations.
  • Good understanding of automotive features, technology, and industry trends
