Fire Alarm Systems:  Tester / Technician / Surveyor –

About the Role:

This hands-on position involves testing, inspecting, maintaining and surveying fire alarm systems to ensure compliance and reliability. You'll perform routine maintenance, complete detailed reports, and respond to service callouts when needed. You will undertake repairs and small alterations where required, and be focused on customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Testing & Inspection: Conduct regular fire alarm testing and record compliance results.
  • Surveying: Carry out site surveys and system assessments for upgrades or maintenance planning.
  • Maintenance & Servicing: Perform general service work, fault-finding, and repairs.
  • Callouts: Attend and resolve after-hours or urgent system faults when required.
  • Documentation: Prepare accurate inspection reports and maintain service logs.
  • Customer Interaction: Communicate clearly with clients and provide professional advice.
  • Compliance: Ensure all testing and service work meets NZ fire safety standards and company procedures.

What You'll Bring:

  • Experience in fire alarm testing, servicing, or electrical systems (ideal but not essential).
  • Strong computer skills and willingness to learn new systems
  • Ability to use hand-held electronic operating systems and devices such as tablets and phones with confidence.
  • Understanding of NZ Standards and compliance requirements.
  • Attention to detail with documentation and reporting.
  • Clear communication and great customer service.
  • Physically fit and confident working at heights or in confined spaces.
