About the RoleAs Referee Manager, you'll play a pivotal role in improving the quality of match officials across the Bay of Plenty region. You'll lead training, education, and retention programs, support the Referees Management Group (RMG), and work closely with clubs, schools, and the wider rugby community to recruit and develop referees.
SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION
Work Organisation/Planning:
- Takes a logical, structured approach to planning and completing workload.
- Flexible attitude toward hours of work which will involve nights and weekends (after hours and weekend work contributes on average 20% of total hours although during the busiest periods (March-May) this will increase to 40-45%)
- Strong administration capability
Communication/People Skills
- Easily establishes rapport with people from a wide variety of backgrounds.
- Effectively builds and maintains effective long-term networks and relationships with key stakeholders
- Excellent facilitation and presentation skills.
- Excellent Communication Skills
Technical Skills, Knowledge and Experience
- A comprehensive understanding of the game of rugby and an in-depth knowledge of refereeing (Qualified referee) would be a great advantage but is not essential.
- Proven ability to deliver high quality education programmes.
- Experienced people manager.
- Highly motivated self-starter.
Teamwork
- Builds and maintains effective working relationships and manages groups skilfully.
- Readily shares information and knowledge with colleagues.
- Genuinely attempts to resolve conflicts when they arise.
Qualification and Experience
- Preferably experience in the area of sports management
- Appropriate referee qualifications (not essential)
- Make a real impact on the quality and experience of rugby in the Bay of Plenty.
- Work with passionate people in a supportive environment.
