Are you an experienced finance leader ready to make a meaningful impact? Our client is seeking a dynamic and forward-thinking Financial Controller to lead their finance function and help drive long-term financial sustainability and performance.

Reporting to the Group Manager Finance & Assurance, this pivotal leadership role oversees the effective delivery of finance, revenue, and accounting activities. You will lead a capable team of finance professionals; including accountants, systems specialists, and project staff, ensuring excellence in financial operations, systems, and advice across the organisation.

You will play a key role in:

  • Developing and implementing financial strategies that ensure long-term stability and value for stakeholders
  • Leading annual and long-term financial planning processes, reporting, and treasury management
  • Driving process and system improvements to enhance efficiency and transparency
  • Overseeing audits, rating operations, insurance, and internal audit functions
  • Providing trusted financial insight and strategic advice to senior leadership and key stakeholders

About you:

You are a confident and collaborative finance leader who brings strong technical expertise, commercial acumen, and a strategic mindset. You can lead through change, influence decisions, and foster a high-performing, customer-focused finance team.

To be successful, you will bring:

  • A bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or economics
  • Chartered Accountant (CA) membership or equivalent
  • 10+ years' experience providing financial leadership and insight within complex organisations
  • Proven capability in management accounting, strategic planning, and risk management
  • Strong people leadership skills with a focus on mentoring, collaboration, and continuous improvement
  • An understanding of local government frameworks is preferred
