TE TŪRANGA I THE ROLE:

We're looking for Media Operators to join our Technology team in Auckland on a 6 month or 12 month fixed-term basis.

In this role, you'll be at the heart of our content operations— managing and processing media files and live broadcasts—preparing them for replays on Sky channels, online platforms, production use, and archive. From captioning and curation to publishing tasks, you'll make sure our stories reach audiences seamlessly.

Please note: These roles require flexibility to work on a 24/7 rotating shift roster.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Operate media systems and applications to process, prepare, and publish content.
  • Evaluate programme material to ensure it meets broadcast and technical standards.
  • Ingest and capture live and scheduled content for use across platforms.
  • Complete tasks such as closed captioning, publishing, and preparation of live sport replays.
  • Confirm successful media transfers to archive and troubleshoot errors.
  • Communicate effectively with MCR, Studio, Edit, and Engineering teams using correct protocols.

You'll bring a keen interest in media, strong technical aptitude, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. You're adaptable, detail-focused, and comfortable working both independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Essential

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Able to work on a 24/7 rotating shift roster, including weekends.
  • Computer literate, with file management skills and proficiency in MS Office.

Preferred

  • Organised approach to work with strong attention to detail.
  • Personal motivation to develop within the broadcast & media industry.
  • Self-motivated, resourceful, able to multi-task, with exceptional time management.
  • Ability to think clearly during peak workload and challenging situations.
  • Enjoys working with sport and entertainment-oriented programming.
