About the Role
The Senior Service Owner plays a critical role in the Identity & Eligibility team bringing insights to the full service lifecycle from planning and design through to delivery and ongoing support. Operating at a delivery level, this role ensures services are effectively designed, delivered, and continuously improved to meet evolving business needs. Working in close collaboration with product teams, delivery and delivery teams, and capability teams, the Senior Service Owner is supporting and enabling efficient operations, collaboration, and contributing to the effectiveness of the delivery across the Identity services team. This position demands a strategic mindset, strong leadership, and a deep understanding of service management principles to drive performance and value across the organisation.
About the Team our Services and Locations
You will get the opportunity to work with an amazingly talented team across the country on systems that are foundational to the operation of health sector systems in New Zealand. You will report to the Manager Identity and Eligibility within the Digital Applications & Products portfolio. You will actively contribute to the end-to-end service lifecycle from planning and design through to delivery and support working closely with product, delivery, and technical teams for a suite of our core health identity systems including the National health index (NHI), Health provider index (HPI) and MyHealthAccount, as well as working with business partners internally and externally. These identifiers and identity elements are used by thousands of organisations across the motu and most are classified Category 1 which is the highest level of availability and support required within Health New Zealand.
About you
You are a seasoned digital delivery team player with a strong analytical mindset and a passion for driving information reliability and performance. Your ability to analyse complex information and present structured and articulate documentation will be critical in the success of this role. You bring a strategic mindset, a collaborative approach, and a commitment to equity and innovation in healthcare. As a valued team member you inspire cross-functional teams to improve and align service management best practices and foster a culture of feedback and continuous improvement. You will also have the following skills and experience to support your success in the role:
- Proven experience in IT service management, including leadership experience and at least 3+ years ideally in a health related service delivery role
- Proven ability to manage complex processes, and supporting large-scale projects, and transformational initiatives
- In-depth knowledge of ITIL frameworks would be desirable and practical experience applying service management best practices
- Solid understanding of service management tools and processes
- Excellent communication and relationship building skills with a diverse set of stakeholders.
