Working for Te Whatu Ora at Te Toka Tumai is an opportunity for you to make a real difference in the health and wellbeing of our Auckland community. In your role as Area Lead - Endoscopy Area, reporting directly to the Operations Team Leader, you will be responsible for leading a team of approximately 25 Sterilising Technicians. The focus of the role is to maintain a high-quality service and ensure timely delivery to meet service demands, particularly for endoscopes, across the three levels.
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate strong expertise in the reprocessing of Reusable Medical Devices (RMDs), along with a broad working knowledge of relevant standards and guidelines, including GENCA, GESA, and AS 5369:2023.
Key responsibilities include:
- Acting as a preceptor and providing refresher training to staff
- Offering technical expert support and acting as a key resource to improve efficiency and quality outcomes
- Demonstrating confident and effective communication, with a strong focus on problem-solving strategies
- Providing people leadership to develop and sustain a high-performing team
- Staff rostering and allocation
- Asset management including planned preventative maintenance scheduling and microbiological testing
You will also be expected to complete the New Zealand Diploma in Sterilising Technology (Level 5), with enrolment required within two years of appointment.
