We are looking for a reliable experienced heavy machinery operator to join a small team.

The applicant must have heavy machinery experience, be of sound character and take pride in their workmanship.

This role is minimum 38 hours per week on a 6-month term and primarily operating the dump truck and water truck at our Hawera Quarry. The successful candidate will be working within a small team alongside the Operations Manager

Key responsibilities include:

  • A range of tasks requiring dumper and water truck operation
  • Assisting with asset management, i.e. machine refuelling, assisting with servicing, maintenance, cleaning of machines and repairs
  • Organisation, presentation and care of the workshop and site offices
  • Ordering and collecting items from town
  • Weed spraying and riparian plant care
  • When required, record information such as machinery hours, production and sale numbers
  • Help visitors on arrival and ensure they follow site protocol

  • Any other site tasks assigned by Quarry Manager

  • Work to Health & Safety Rules and Regulations Within A Quarry Environment

  • Physical work i.e using a shovel to clear equipment and plant as required

Essential for the role:

  • Some agricultural contracting, construction or quarry related experience
  • Have a clean driver's license
  • Hold HT licenses where possible
  • Must live within the south Taranaki region
  • Be able to pass a drug test
  • Be physically fit
  • Be competent with numbers and completing health and safety paperwork
  • Must be an excellent verbal and written communicator
  • Be able to multi task
