Mō Tēnei Tūranga Mahi – About the Role
The Senior Academic Staff Member - Electrical Engineering is responsible for delivering high-quality teaching, supporting learner achievement, conducting ethical and impactful research, contributing to curriculum development, and engaging with industry and community stakeholders. The role also includes mentoring, leadership, and active participation in Ara's strategic goals, including Māori learner success and sustainability.
Ngā Pūkenga Me Ngā Wheako – Skills and Experience
- A Bachelor or higher qualification in the area of Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Post graduation qualification in Electrical Engineering preferred
- Current industry/discipline knowledge
- An Ara-recognised teaching qualification
- A high level of understanding and experience in the knowledge and practices related to Electrical Engineering
- Understanding of the principles and application of those principles that are related to the allocated courses that are taught in the Electrical Engineering programme.
- The ability to contribute to research outputs.
- Teaching experience
- Passionate about the industry and the field of practice as covered in Electrical Engineering for which the role is linked to and the opportunities to improve practice or give back to the industry and society through education.
- Sound professional judgment and integrity
- Friendly and approachable manner
