Wando Estate is an 8,000-acre grazing enterprise located in the scenic Wando Hills, just north of Casterton, Victoria. We are dedicated to ethical, sustainable, and high-performing livestock production, running 1,600 spring calving Angus breeding cows plus replacements and steers anda bull breeding nucleus, and 8,500 Merino ewes joined to terminals. Our focus on regenerative land and soil management and modern grazing principles ensures optimal pasture utilization and soil health, allowing us to aim to consistently place among the top 20% of benchmarked farms in Australia.

About the Opportunity

Reporting directly to the Principal, you will oversee day-to-day operations and lead a capable team. This is a hands-on leadership role suited to someone who enjoys team coaching, delivering of key principles and is committed to continuous improvement and performance.

More specifically, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Manage all aspects of farm operations, livestock programs, and property maintenance to uphold our standards.
  • Provide a proactive, hands-on leadership approach that supports accountability, teamwork, training and a positive, values-based culture.
  • Lead workplace health and safety, including toolbox meetings, hazard management, and reporting.
  • Prepare and manage budgets, financial performance reports, and monthly operational reporting.
  • Maintain accurate financial and business records, including payroll, inventories, creditors, and compliance obligations, supported by our bookkeeper.

About You

You'll bring a genuine interest in leading and developing teams, along with a deep understanding of livestock production and pasture management. Your confidence in decision-making will help guide both your team and the business toward performance and sustainability goals.

You'll also demonstrate:

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a senior livestock or farm management role, within a large-scale or mixed livestock enterprise.
  • A practical, hands-on approach combined with the ability to lead, collaborate, and develop others.
  • Sound financial acumen and operational management skills.
  • Confident communication, planning, and problem-solving skills.
  • Commitment to safe work practices, growth and continuous improvement.
  • Sound computer literacy; experience with Xero is desirable.
  • Relevant tertiary or agricultural qualifications preferred.
