We are seeking an experienced and resourceful workshop engineer to join our maintenance team based at Paraparaumu. As one of the team, you will be fabricating hardware to maintain our automatic weather stations, weather radars and other data acquisition systems at sites throughout New Zealand and its outlying islands.
To Be Successful In This Role, You Will
- Be resourceful, motivated, and able to either work alone or as part of a team in a variety of environments, including remote sites
- Install, refurbish, and repair meteorological data acquisition equipment and installations
- Construct mountings and fixtures required by the MetService field maintenance teams
- Plan and implement site works for data acquisition installations including the supervision of contractors
- Draft and amend equipment structure construction drawings in industry standard software packages (eg SOLIDWORKS)
- Embrace and actively implement the health, safety and well-being culture and practices employed by MetService
- Maintain records of equipment installations, modifications, fault repairs and servicing
- Have a New Zealand recognised trade qualification in an engineering trade such as tool maker, fitter and turner, fabricator, or welder
