Fluid Recruitment is working alongside a well-respected consultancy based in Christchurch with a strong repeat client base.
They are looking for a Senior Planner to replace an internal promotion. The ideal candidate will have the ability to form strong client relationships and flourish in a dynamic work environment. The position requires being based in, or willing to relocate to, the Christchurch area. Having strong planning knowledge from a Canterbury perspective will be a particular advantage.

The multi-disciplinary organisation is one of the longest standing firms of its kind in Canterbury. From a resource management perspective, they complete a diverse range of projects from land development and subdivision work to environmental work. Specialising in the wider Christchurch area, they also helm projects in Dunedin and Central Otago. They pride themselves on the managerial role their employees take within each project and their clear path of progression through the company.

You will
- Have extensive knowledge of resource management planning in New Zealand along with a planning and/or resource management degree
- Hold or be eligible for New Zealand Planning Institute membership
- Have a minimum of 5 years of experience in the resource management planning sector
- Possess excellent interpersonal skills along with an ability to communicate effectively with relevant stake holders
The role
As a Senior Planner, you will play a critical role in contributing to the ongoing development of projects in the region, particularly in the district planning space. The successful candidate will have clear progression paths within the company as this role is open due to internal promotion. Working closely with in-house surveyors & engineers on projects from inception to completion.
Key responsibilities include:
- Prepare and assist in resource consent applications and liaise with regional and local authority representatives
- Large managerial aspect to the role, you will be coordinating with other consultancies and other divisions within the organisation.
- Provide planning, environmental and land development consultancy services.
- Assisting local councils in acquiring and processing resource consents when required
- Coordinating with local engineering consultancies
- Provide technical support to other team members on resource consent-related matters
