Join a team that is passionate about what they do They are a well-established civil construction company with a strong pipeline of work and a reputation for delivering high-quality infrastructure projects across the West Coast. With a newly awarded project, they're seeking a driven and capable Project Engineer to lead the charge. This is a temporary role for up to 6 months, with the potential to transition into a more permanent position as future projects come online. You will be mainly based in Hokitika, Greymouth and surrounding areas.

Tō tūranga hou | Your new role

As Project Engineer, you'll be responsible for managing the full lifecycle of civil construction projects, from tendering through to completion of new projects. You'll work closely with site teams, subcontractors, and clients to ensure projects are delivered safely on time, and to specification.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Tendering, develop methodology and quantity takeoffs
  • Health & Safety, creating site inductions and contributing to monthly toolbox meetings
  • Subcontractor Management, developing scope of works and subcontracts
  • Manage claims and documentation
  • Ensure compliance with HSEQ procedures
  • Contract Management, handle project documentation, notices, variations, and EOTs
  • Prepare and update programs and production plans
  • Lead site meetings
  • Quality Assurance, develop work method statements, ITPs, and check sheets
  • Ensure site compliance with design and specifications
  • Site Coordination, coordinating staff, subcontractors, and suppliers with the Supervisor
  • Prepare traffic management plans
  • Conduct survey as-builts and CAD work
  • Support NDM processes

  • Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
  • Proven experience in civil construction project delivery
  • Strong understanding of contract and subcontractor management
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote project environment
