About Us

At Wakefield Hospital, we perform a wide range of diagnostic, interventional and surgical procedures. And with a long-standing history of serving the lower North Island, we are proud to be the largest private hospital in the Wellington region.

About the role

As a Practice Nurse at Wakefield Hospital, you will be responsible for the consultant's clinical and non-clinical practice. 

You will: 

  • Assist the consultant during clinics and provide nurse-led clinics 
  • Plan care to meet the patient's needs, relevant standards and expected outcomes  
  • Seek and follow medical colleagues' orders and directions 
  • Complete post-operative and post discharge care and other such clinical tasks as required 
  • Carry out all administration duties including managing bookings, answering phone calls and emails and maintaining documentation 
  • Your practice will be in line with the code of conduct and professional boundaries of the nursing professional body. 

This is a permanent position for 32 hours per fortnight and is located at Wakefield Hospital.



Skills And Experiences

About you

You will have exceptional time management to manage a busy consultant's clinical and non-clinical operations.

You will also demonstrate and have the following skills and experiences: 

  • At least 3 years' experience as a nurse  
  • Urology and Plastics experience desirable 
  • Procedural nursing experience preferred
  • Holds an annual practicing certificate 
  • Strong attention to detail and communication skills: excellent written and oral English 
  • The ability to work well in a team with a positive "can do" attitude.
