Auckland, Auckland, New Zealand Flight Digital Full time NZ$90,000 - NZ$120,000 per year

Performance Director

As a Performance Director at Flight, you'll lead the strategy and optimisation of digital customer experiences across SEO, CRO, paid media, and marketing automation. You'll bring together the art and science of digital brand and performance, ensuring every digital interaction across the customer journey delivers measurable impact for clients and commercial value for the business.

You'll act as both client advocate and team advocate, connecting what clients need with what our team delivers. You'll lead workshops, shape engagement strategies, and guide teams and contractors to deliver high-performing, data-informed outcomes that move the needle. Your role is to know what "great" looks like in the performance space, stay ahead of trends, and continuously improve how Flight delivers measurable digital success.

Key Responsibilities

Performance Strategy and Leadership

  • Lead Flight's performance practice, spanning SEO, CRO, paid advertising, analytics, and marketing automation.
  • Define the performance vision for client accounts, connecting brand, content, and customer experience with measurable digital outcomes.
  • Guide teams to create and execute strategies that drive conversion, efficiency, and ROI across all touchpoints.

Client Advocacy and Engagement

  • Act as a trusted strategic advisor to clients, translating commercial goals into performance-led strategies.
  • Lead workshops and engagement sessions to uncover opportunities, define success metrics, and set clear performance roadmaps.
  • Build deep relationships with clients, ensuring they feel supported, understood, and confident in our process.

Team and Partner Collaboration

  • Partner closely with internal teams across design, development, strategy, and client services to ensure cohesive execution.
  • Work with a network of contractors and specialists to deliver high-quality, integrated performance outcomes.
  • Champion collaboration and clear communication between clients, internal teams, and external partners.

Optimisation and Continuous Improvement

  • Oversee ongoing optimisation of digital ecosystems, from ad campaigns to conversion funnels and automation flows.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement through data, testing, and insight-led experimentation.
  • Lead CRO initiatives that span the full customer experience,  not just websites, ensuring every stage of the journey is optimised for conversion and engagement.

Commercial Oversight

  • Ensure performance engagements are scoped, delivered, and reported in a way that drives both client value and business profitability.
  • Track and report on KPIs across channels, surfacing actionable insights that inform future strategy.

Thought Leadership and Innovation

  • Stay ahead of trends in search, advertising, automation, and conversion science.
  • Share insights internally and externally to position Flight as a leader in digital performance excellence.
  • Contribute to innovation across our performance offering, piloting new tools, channels, and frameworks.

What It Takes to Be Successful

  • Proven experience leading performance marketing or digital optimisation across SEO, CRO, paid media, and automation.
  • Strong understanding of analytics, testing methodologies, and customer experience principles.
  • Skilled at bridging strategy and execution, translating data into actionable change.
  • Confident workshop facilitator, communicator, and relationship builder.
  • Able to inspire teams, guide contractors, and maintain calm leadership under pressure.
  • Commercially minded, balancing client outcomes with agency performance.
  • Passionate about staying at the forefront of digital innovation and experimentation.

Culture and Values

You'll thrive in a fast, collaborative environment that values curiosity, partnership, and results. You love connecting the dots between technology, creativity, and data, and believe that great performance work is as much about people as it is about platforms. Success in this role means clients feel supported and informed, teams are clear and motivated, and every campaign, workflow, and journey delivers measurable progress for both Flight and our clients.

Manaakitanga - Care and Respect

You lead with empathy and integrity, creating a supportive environment for clients, colleagues, and partners. You make sure people feel valued, heard, and respected in every interaction.
