Who are we:
- Our sales are growing 30% year on year and we are now looking for a Business Development Lead to take ownership of this area and continue to accelerate our reach. With certification of renewable attributes growing rapidly as an industry, we will also expand into new markets over time, creating further opportunities. This is an exciting time for BraveTrace as we continue to pioneer and enable New Zealand businesses to meet their sustainability goals with ease and confidence.
- BraveTrace is a 100% kiwi owned small business which exists to help accelerate the renewable energy transition in New Zealand. We do this by independently certifying electricity consumption of energy users is matched with verified renewable electricity.

- Our team primarily works remotely and are geographically spread across Aotearoa New Zealand. The current team operates from the Auckland, Bay of Plenty, Manawatu and Wellington regions, with some shared office spaces available if staff prefer.

- BraveTrace is a leading small business in the renewable energy sector, specialising in providing an innovative and impactful method to drive positive climate action through the tracking and certification of renewable energy production.
- We operate the New Zealand Energy Certificate System (NZECS), an NZ first cloud-based tracking system of national renewable energy, creating a flexible and voluntary method to help increase renewable energy generation.

- We're looking for a commercially driven, purpose-led professional to accelerate BraveTrace's growth in New Zealand's renewable electricity and gas markets.
- You'll lead and deliver direct sales and business development strategies that drive uptake of renewable electricity certification across major energy users, corporates, and institutions.
- From identifying opportunities and securing new customers to deepening relationships with existing ones, you'll play a key role in expanding awareness and trust in renewable certification. Working alongside our Head of Partnerships and technical teams, you'll help shape products that meet market needs, support marketing and brand growth, and provide insight that drives ongoing improvement.
- Whether you come with proven strategic experience ready to lead as Head of Growth, or strong commercial expertise and drive suited to a Business Development Manager stepping up, this role offers the chance to make a tangible impact on New Zealand's sustainability landscape.
- You're an ambitious, results-oriented professional with a strong record in B2B sales or business development, ideally working with large corporates or complex stakeholders. You understand how to build credibility, open new market segments, and deliver commercial growth through direct engagement and genuine relationships.
- You thrive in an autonomous, fast-paced environment where initiative, accountability, and drive are valued. You're confident engaging at all levels — from C-suite and sustainability teams to technical and procurement functions — and your communication and influencing skills set you apart.
- Experience in renewable energy, electricity markets, or sustainability is a bonus, as is familiarity with certification, ESG or carbon reporting. Above all, you bring the ambition, curiosity and energy to grow with us, shaping your role as we scale.
- Remote working and flexibility is a part of our culture, and this is a work-from-home role with around 50% face-to-face customer time in Auckland. We expect this will best suit someone Auckland-based, however we're open to those who can maintain that local in-person presence through their own travel preferences or routines.
