About the role
Te Rito Maioha Primary Teacher Education is proudly a Category One rated tertiary provider. We are seeking an experienced educator to join our team as a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer for our Bachelor of Teaching (Primary) or Graduate Diploma of Teaching (Primary) programmes. A key part of this position will be to support our Practicum placement programme through engagement with schools, principals, and other key stakeholders. This is a full-time role based in one of our 11 Regional Education Centres, with preference given to Wellington or Dunedin applicants. You will play a key role in shaping the next generation of primary school teachers, delivering high-quality instruction and supporting students throughout their studies.
What you'll be doing
- Preparing and delivering course material
- Assessing student work and providing comprehensive feedback to support their learning and development
- Supervising student teacher placements and providing mentorship and guidance
- Developing and updating curriculum materials to ensure content is relevant and up-to-date
- Participating in programme administration, including student recruitment and retention initiatives
- Contributing to the broader research and scholarly activities of Te Rito Maioha
- Developing and building a relationships within the primary sector
What we're looking for
- A master's degree in Education or higher, with experience teaching and/or mentoring adults
- Full teacher certification and practicing certificate
- Recent in-school Primary curriculum experience, with a deep understanding of the teaching and learning process
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and inspire students in an online learning environment
- A commitment to innovative and evidence-based teaching practices, with a focus on student-centred learning
- The ability to work collaboratively within a team environment and contribute to the ongoing development of the programme
- Willingness to engage and contribute to research and publications
- Knowledge in te reo Māori me ngā Māori is desirable, but support is given to develop in this area
