Data Engineer
At AIMER Farming, we're transforming how farmers understand and manage their land through the power of data, AI, and machine vision technology. Our digital tools give farmers real-time insights to make smarter, more profitable decisions.
We're looking for a Data Engineer to join our growing team — someone who's excited about building scalable data systems, automating complex processes, and helping turn data into actionable insights for the agricultural sector.
As our Data Engineer, your initial focus will be to productise new satellite models and data linkages, building the infrastructure and pipelines needed to automate ingestion and QA processes.
Your work will accelerate AIMER Farming's own satellite model rollout, help phase out a legacy algorithm and significantly reduce ongoing manual QA costs.
Beyond this initial focus, your wider remit will include designing and building robust, scalable data systems that power AIMER's analytics and AI products. As the platform evolves, you'll also help lay the groundwork for advanced data and AI capabilities, to deliver richer, more intelligent farm management insights.
Key Responsibilities
· Design, build and maintain data systems: Build and optimise scalable data architectures, pipelines, and databases.
· Automate and improve workflows: Streamline satellite and data ingestion, QA, and transformation.
· Data quality and security: Implement robust validation, monitoring, and governance processes.
· Enable intelligent data use: Design data structures and APIs that support advanced analytics and future AI applications.
· Collaborate across teams: Work with data scientists, engineers, and product teams to deliver accessible, high-quality data.
· Support analytical and operational tools: Help develop tools that simplify data access and insight generation for internal teams and customers.
What You Bring - Core Skills & Experience
- Programming: Strong proficiency in Python and SQL, and experience with C# or other modern backend languages a plus.
- Data systems: Experience with relational databases (Postgres preferred) and cloud data platforms (AWS preferred).
- Data pipelines: Hands-on experience designing and maintaining ETL/ELT workflows.
- APIs and integration: Skilled in building or consuming REST APIs for data flow and interoperability.
- Collaboration: Able to work closely with cross-functional teams and translate data needs into practical solutions.
Why You'll Love It Here
- Make a real-world impact in farming technology and sustainable agriculture
- Work with a passionate, mission-driven team
- Hybrid working
