Medical Director – Napier Urgent Care
Shape the future of urgent care in Hawke's Bay.
Napier Urgent Care (formerly City Medical), a leading and trusted provider of urgent and after-hours care for more than 25 years, is seeking a Medical Director to join our team.
Our mission is to provide accessible, quality urgent and after-hours health care for our community. We are looking for a passionate leader to guide clinical excellence, support our highly skilled team, and strengthen our commitment to evidence-based, patient-centred care in alignment with our core values of collaboration, collegiality, communication and continuous improvement.
This is an exciting opportunity to step into a role that contributes to the health and wellbeing of our community. Each year, our team delivers urgent and after-hours care to more than 36,000 patients, spanning a broad spectrum of clinical complexity and acuity.
The Medical Director role sits within our Senior Management team and is supported by our Clinical Governance Committee.
The Opportunity
As Medical Director, you will:
· Lead and inspire a multidisciplinary team.
· Drive clinical excellence and innovation.
· Partner with the Board, GM, and Senior Management to deliver strategic goals.
· Provide hands-on clinical leadership in a busy urgent care centre.
· Champion high-quality, patient-centred, innovative and culturally responsive models of care.
This is a full-time role (1FTE), based in Napier, with some after-hours requirements.
About You
You will bring clinical credibility, proven leadership, and a commitment to advancing urgent care. Specifically, you will be:
- An experienced and respected clinician with leadership capability.
- A holder of a current MCNZ Practising Certificate, legally able to practise in NZ.
- Committed to high-quality, evidence-based, patient-centred care.
- Experienced in management and clinical governance.
- Ideally a current or pending Fellow of the RNZCUC (preferred but not essential).
Why join us?
Clinical Leadership: Apply your clinical expertise on the floor while mentoring and supporting our highly skilled team.
Impact: Play a key role in shaping urgent and after-hours care for the Hawke's Bay community.
Growth: Lead with autonomy while being supported by a senior management team.
