About the role | Mō te tūranga:
Our Microbiology department is seeking a dedicated and motivated Medical Laboratory Scientist to join our team in a permanent, part-time position. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to a vital and fast-paced area of our laboratory services.

We're looking for someone who is eager to learn new skills, works effectively both independently and as part of a team, and takes pride in delivering high-quality, accurate results. You'll be organised, detail-oriented, and approachable, with a strong commitment to excellence in both scientific standards and customer service. The ideal candidate will demonstrate initiative, precision, and the ability to work confidently with minimal supervision.

To be successful in this role you need to have:

  • The ability to work in a methodical manner adhering to strict quality procedure guidelines.
  • A team focus with initiative, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and possess the ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail, with good record-keeping skills.
  • The ability to work independently and able to participate in out-of-hour shifts as per the roster provided.
  • Registration with the Medical Sciences Council of New Zealand and a current Annual Practicing Certificate as a Medical Laboratory Scientist
  • Eligibility to work in New Zealand.
