About the Role

Urology Canterbury is looking for an enthusiastic Registrar with a keen interest in research to join our team. The role involves undertaking research into the Prostate Cancer Outcomes Registry (PCOR-NZ), and producing publications and presentations aligned to this data. You will be supported to utilise biostatics and other relevant educational opportunities aligned to PCOR-NZ. Related travel to appropriate meeting to gather further information, network and present your findings will be funded. You will coordinate the Urology department research activities including Urology Registrars' projects, presentations, and publications. You will attend regular Urology clinical meetings, while remaining non-clinical. Clinical observations of Prostate Cancer related patient activities may be available. Progressing funding opportunities for continuation of Research Registrar opportunities in Urology over the two years is also expected. Two monthly progress and activity reporting will be required.

This role is a fixed term full time role and is suitable for a Registrar studying for Master of Medical Science, or PhD at Otago University. Supervision from University of Otago Academics, Consultant Urologists and Public Health can be provided as needed.

About you

• You will have completed your first two post graduate years (PGY3+)
• Knowledge and commitment of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and how the principles can be applied to health.
• A willingness to grow and further develop an equity lens and skillset, both to assist Māori and minority groups.
• You must be eligible for general or provisional general registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand. You can check your eligibility by visiting the Council's website at
