Major Events Advisor

Are you passionate about bringing events to life and making Wellington thrive? WellingtonNZ is on the lookout for a permanent full-time Major Events Advisor to help support the delivery of unforgettable experiences across the region. If you're a relationship-builder, a strategic thinker, and thrive in the fast-paced world of events, this could be your next big move.

As a Major Events Advisor, you'll play a key role in supporting and coordinating WellingtonNZ's major events portfolio. You'll work closely with event organisers, promoters, rights holders, and regional stakeholders to ensure seamless delivery and maximum impact of supported major events.

Your work will help shape the cultural, social, and economic vibrancy of the Wellington region from concept to execution.

What you'll do

As a Major Events Advisor, you'll:

  • Building and managing strong relationships with event partners and stakeholders.
  • Providing expert advice and support to event organisers across the region.
  • Coordinating event planning, delivery, and post-event reporting.
  • Supporting event leverage and activation opportunities.
  • Collaborating across WellingtonNZ to align events with regional goals.
  • Championing WellingtonNZ's values and contributing to a thriving team culture

What you'll bring

  • Proven experience in event management, stakeholder engagement, and project delivery.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure.
  • A collaborative mindset and a passion for making things happen.
  • A relevant tertiary qualification in event management or a related field is preferred.
  • A full driver's licence and confidence navigating the Wellington region.

Due to the nature of the events we support, flexibility to work outside of standard business hours is appreciated as this may involve occasional weekend/after-hours event attendance.
