Head Chef

quality food offer that is produced in our own kitchen. 

Columbus Coffee Hornby is looking
for a Cafe head chef. This person will be passionate about food, flavours and
presentation. They will be committed to bringing new ideas to keep our offering
exciting as well as delivering on the tried-and-true Columbus favourites.

About the role

• Full-time role of 40 hours per week, worked Sunday
  to Thursday.
• There are early starts (6.15am / 7am) for
  breakfast/lunch service and no late nights.
• Involves leadership of a very capable team of 2
  chefs.
• There will be training and support available from
  the Columbus Chef trainer.

Key responsibilities

• Run daily prep and service to tight timelines
  (breakfast & lunch)
• Ensure our cabinet is full of appealing items and a
  la carte menu is served quickly and consistently
• Own FCP, allergen management and site H&S
• Maintain equipment, cleanliness and compliance
  documentation.
• Oder, receive and manage inventory; control COGS
  and waste.
• Forecasting of production to ensure stock levels
  are correct and team have a clear understanding of what their day looks
  like

What will you bring?

• 3-5 years' experience in a senior role
  in high-volume kitchen
• Previous experience with cabinet, baking and cook
  to order food service
• The ability to ensure consistency of quality,
  portion size and presentation according to Columbus standards
• Experience with all areas of Food Control plans and
  Health and Safety
• Calm, organised leadership; clear communication in
  a busy environment
• Reliability, speed and consistency
• Baking skills are a must as we bake a lot of our
  own biscuits, cakes, slices as well as daily scones and muffins.
