Whāraurau is a government-funded national workforce development centre focused on improving infant, child, and youth mental health and addiction services across all care sectors, including primary, NGO, Kaupapa Māori, and Te Whatu Ora. Established in 2003 as The Werry Centre and renamed in 2016, Whāraurau is part of the Wise Group and delivers training, leadership, and trauma-informed approaches nationwide.

The Role | Mō tēnei tūranga mahi

This role leads and supports workforce development initiatives to strengthen the ICAMH and addictions workforce for tamariki and whānau. You'll manage designated projects, plan and report on activities, and maintain the Foundations in ICAMH course. The position involves delivering training both online and in person, including core facilitation and a train-the-trainer approach.

  • Contribute to the development of training and delivery of Whāraurau work programmes, specifically in foundational infant, child and youth mental health.
  • Facilitate and deliver the provision of workshops and presentations to the ICAMH workforce.
  • Manage planning, co-ordination and delivery of project work.
  • Produce and coordinate financial reporting.
  • Lead and collaborate with sub-contractors.
  • Gather and report on sector intel to mitigate risks.
  • Provide key stakeholder management with the mental health and addictions sector.

You | Mōu

We are looking for someone who has:

  • A clinical qualification with a relevant tertiary degree in mental health, health or education
  • Knowledge and understanding of best practice approaches to infant, child and youth mental health and wellbeing
  • Understanding of Māori approaches to wellbeing, and a commitment to promoting positive outcomes for tangata whenua
  • Experience providing adult education and training
