Introduction



We are looking for a skilled Operations Accountant to join our Finance Team on a 6-month parental leave contract, starting in the first week of March 2026. This role plays a key part in delivering accurate financial reporting, ensuring compliance, supporting revenue assurance, and partnering closely with both Finance and Operations. You'll also lead a small team and help drive continuous improvement across systems and processes.

Key Responsibilities

Analyse P&Ls and prepare monthly reporting packs, divisional reports, container P&Ls, labour % reports, and maintain cost trackers.Manage all month-end processes including journals, accruals, weekly allocations, reconciliations, budgeting support, cashflow assistance, debtor queries, and automation of reports.Assist with year-end accounts and prepare GST, FBT, compliance reporting, and Statistics NZ submissions.Review weekly revenue, investigate variances, identify billing/coding errors, validate revenue quantities, and complete all revenue accrual checks.Maintain FAF updates and develop supplementary revenue reporting to improve accuracy.Prepare and review subcontractor reporting, support the Payables team, calculate and communicate rate changes, maintain GRI trackers, and assess EBITDA impacts.Lead and mentor the Senior Payables Specialist, collaborate across Finance and Operations, and provide clear financial insights.Identify and support process and system improvement opportunities.Promote Health & Safety, follow policies, identify hazards, and ensure corrective actions are taken.

Skills & Experience

Mandatory:

Chartered Accountant qualification (CAANZ or equivalent).Minimum 3 years' experience in a commercial environment.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.Strong attention to detail, numeracy skills, and ability to manage multiple deadlines.Strong understanding of the NZ tax regime and NZ IFRS.Proficient in Microsoft Office.

 

Desired:

Experience in the logistics industry.Previous leadership or mentoring experience.Experience in financial or management accounting within a fast-paced environment.
