Te Rapa, New Zealand ARB Corporation Full time NZ$30,000 - NZ$70,000 per year

Build high-quality tooling that supports industry-leading products

Based in Hamilton, ARB NZ operates some of the largest thermoforming and extrusion equipment in the Southern Hemisphere. We manufacture canopies, bedliners, flares, cargo liners and other large-format plastic components for global markets — exporting to more than 60 countries.

We're part of a global organisation, but we operate like a close-knit, hands-on manufacturing team. Quality, reliability and practicality guide everything we do.

Are you a hands-on person who takes pride in building things that last? At ARB NZ Manufacturing, we're looking for a Tool Builder to join our mould building and tooling team — creating the tools, jigs and fixtures that support some of the world's best automotive products.

From custom moulds and trimming fixtures through to prototype builds and production support, you'll work across the entire tooling lifecycle. Every day brings something different — repairing a production mould in the morning, preparing a new prototype jig in the afternoon, or helping engineers bring a new design to life.

If you love working with your hands, enjoy solving problems, and want to be part of a team that values quality above all else, this role is for you.

What You'll Do

  • Build, repair and maintain moulds, jigs, fixtures, templates and associated tooling
  • Work with wood, fibreglass, resin systems, tooling board, foams and composite materials
  • Prepare, fair, sand and finish tooling surfaces to a high cosmetic standard
  • Support prototype builds, trials, and early-stage development with R&D
  • Restore and maintain moulds pre- and post-production to ensure long-term performance
  • Work collaboratively with Engineering, Production and Tooling teams
  • Apply continuous improvement, 5S and process discipline across the workshop

What We're Looking For

  • Experience with fibreglass lamination and resin systems
  • Skilled with hand tools, power tools, sanders, routers and general workshop equipment
  • Strong attention to detail and craftsmanship
  • Practical problem-solving ability with a "let's get it done" attitude
  • Ability to read drawings, templates and basic CAD outputs
  • Takes pride in their work, shows initiative and enjoys working independently or in a small team
  • Familiarity with release agents, gelcoats, catalysts and mixing ratios (advantageous)
  • Forklift licence or willingness to obtain one (preferred)

Why Join Us?

  • Standard four-day work week.
  • Work on a wide variety of tooling projects — no two days are the same
  • Be part of a skilled, supportive and passionate team
  • Stable, well-established manufacturing environment
  • Opportunities to grow your skills across composites, tooling and production engineering
  • Make a real impact on the products we build and ship around the world

If you are keen to explore this opportunity further, please press 'Apply now' and send us a copy of your CV

To be successful in this role, you must have the right to work in New Zealand.
