  • Work with us to deliver pastoral and spiritual care to our Elders
  • Recognise the diversity within the community in our Home
  • Part Time hours - work flexibly

*Mō mātou - About us*

Together, we make a lasting difference.

When you join Presbyterian Support Central (PSC), you're becoming part of something truly special, a not-for-profit organisation that's been helping people for more than 115 years.

Everything we do is about supporting people at the most vulnerable times of their lives, whether that's an older person needing care and connection, or a family working through tough times. Chalmers Home provides a place of connection, compassion and understanding, our services cover rest home and hospital care. We are proud to be able to create a family environment that is warm and welcoming for all who spend time with us.

The residents of Chalmers Home tell us they love the friendly, vibrant and family-focused atmosphere. Of course, they love the beautiful views too.

Overlooking the Tasman Sea to the west and Mount Taranaki to the East, Chalmers Home has arguably one of the best rest home outlooks in the country. At Chalmers Home we embrace Enliven's philosophy of care. That means we take every opportunity to make sure our Elders have companionship, spontaneity, fun, meaningful activity and a sense of purpose in their life here.

*Mō te tūranga - About the role*

As Chaplain, you will work with the home team in leading the provision of pastoral and spiritual care to support residents and their whānau from all faiths, cultures and ethnicities. The role is part time working flexibly.

The chaplain develops collegial relationships with local faith community leaders and pastoral carers. They actively seek to assist residents who wish to maintain their faith practices as they were prior to entering the Home.

The Chaplain also leads occasional services in the homes, such as an annual Memorial Service, ANZAC Day, Easter, and Christmas Services. As well as offering opportunities for worship you will take the lead on blessing rooms after death, offering spiritual study and group discussions. In addition to providing pastoral and spiritual care, you will also be expected to:

  • Regularly visit with residents
  • Provide spiritual and religious assessment of each resident which contributes to their holistic care plan.
  • Model safe, effective, and person-centred care.
  • Engage openly and warmly with residents, their whānau and team members.

*Mō koe - About You*

Experience working in an aged care facility is preferred but is not essential. You will also:

  • Have a qualification in theology, ministry, religious studies, chaplaincy, or currently studying.
  • Have completed at least one unit of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) or be prepared to do so.
  • Belong to a mainstream denomination and have a letter of good standing from your faith community.
  • Good working knowledge of technology (you will be using Teams, intranet, Microsoft Outlook and our electronic resident management system).

*Mō ō tātou painga – About our benefits*

  • Competitive base rate salary plus kiwisaver
  • You get to live out your faith in a wonderful context that is all about supporting older adults to live well, embrace life, and enjoy it
