About the companyOur client is the fastest-growing global industrial automation company (over 5,000 staff, >100 offices represented in >75 countries, and with an average annual growth of 15% since 2000).As the pioneers of PC-Based control, early adopters of Industry 4.0 / IoT principles and developers of many innovative technologies, our client is at the forefront of industrial automation innovation in New Zealand.About the roleWe are looking for a passionate, high-performance Sales Engineer who enjoys working with cutting-edge technology and wants to advance their career.The main areas the product range covers are industrial PCs, I/O and fieldbus components, drive technology, automation software, control cabinet-free automation, and hardware for machine vision. The products are typically used in the Machine, Factory and Building Automation markets.Key responsibilities:To achieve sales and margin targets for a designated product portfolio by supporting existing customers and generating new business opportunities.Gain a strong understanding of the customer's requirements and application needs on a technical level so as to ensure the most suitable solution is being advocated.Provide technical, application & sales support to customers, including product demonstrations at client sites or in-house demonstration facilities.Initiate sales process by identifying new business opportunities, building relationships, qualifying their potential and scheduling appointments for presentations.Identify development potential in existing accounts by studying current business, interviewing key customer personnel, identifying and evaluating additional needs.Work closely with the applications team to ensure that solutions proposed for new business and sales opportunities are prepared carefully, quoted correctly, and supplied with relevant supporting material.Strive for customer service excellence by responding promptly and diligently to customer enquiries.Maintain and develop positive and professional working relationships with colleagues and clients and other stakeholders.About you:The ideal candidate will have the following qualities:Tertiary qualifications in Electrical, Electronic or Mechatronics EngineeringSeveral years of sales experience within the New Zealand automation market with a focus on  solution selling .Experience with  PLCs, I/O systems, and fieldbus systems  is required, and knowledge of  motion applications (servomotors, stepper motors)  is preferred.A proven track record of  successfully transitioning customers from one PLC brand to another , including technical consultation and implementation support.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Ability to build trust and efficiently discover business potential.Strong initiative with the ability to work autonomously as well as within a team.High energy, enthusiasm and positive attitude.Benefits:A very generous remuneration package and vehicle allowance.An opportunity to engage with a number of innovative companies in various market sectors.Supportive, knowledgeable and friendly work environment, with opportunities for additional training.An exciting opportunity to represent a growing, dynamic, international, privately owned company.A unique opportunity to advance your career in the field of industrial automation.How to applyReach out to us at  or call us at for a confidential discussion.Index Scientific and Technical Recruitment is New Zealand's only recruitment company run by scientists-recruiters.
