Todd Energy, a subsidiary of the Todd Group, is a producer of natural gas, providing more than 20% of New Zealand's primary energy supply. Todd Energy is also responsible for operating and maintaining Todd's generation assets, including gas peaking plants.
We are seeking a seasoned Rotating Equipment Lead to assume the critical role of Rotating Equipment Technical Authority within our engineering team. This is a chance to provide strategic oversight and technical direction across our producing assets.
About the role
Reporting to the Reliability & Integrity Manager, you will lead the management of discipline engineering for Rotating Equipment. This isn't just about maintenance; it's about setting the standard, encouraging innovation, and providing definitive technical judgments for complex operations.
Responsibilities include:
- Holding the role of Technical Authority, providing oversight and direction within the discipline.
- Monitoring and implementing Rotating Equipment performance and reliability.
- Providing mechanical engineering support for all static equipment and rotating machinery to Operations and Maintenance.
- Approving agreed technical documents and drawings for engineering work company wide.
- Ensuring specific regulatory requirements are embodied in Todd Energy standards and applied across engineering.
About you:
We are looking for an engineer with high-level communication skills who takes significant responsibility and has autonomy in the planning and implementation of solutions. You should thrive on applying a creative approach to problem solving and understanding how to apply new technology to complex systems.
Key requirements for the role:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) preferred, or demonstrated experience in complex industrial environments (e.g., Oil & Gas, Power Generation, Petrochemical).
- Senior level engineering experience within multi-disciplinary engineering management, preferably within Oil & Gas activities.
- Proven knowledge and understanding of rotating engineering principles, applying them in complex and non-routine contexts
- Wide exposure to a range of rotating equipment environments (e.g., engines, compressors, and pumps)
- Strong understanding of New Zealand's regulatory processes, particularly for pressure equipment and pipelines.
- Preferred, but not essential: Membership of a relevant professional engineering body (e.g., Engineering New Zealand, IMechE, Engineers Australia) and Chartered Engineer status (or working towards it).
What we can offer you:
- Competitive remuneration with a discretionary incentive payment based on your performance and the Company's.
- Generous leave provisions including parental leave top ups for 26 weeks, volunteer leave, 3 days office closure leave and the option to purchase additional leave.
- A sociable inclusive culture with an active calendar of activities.
- A dynamic environment in a transforming sector where you can learn, grow and thrive.
We offer a challenging and rewarding environment where your expertise directly contributes to a nationally significant industry.
