About the Role

An established engineering and manufacturing company in the Greater Hamilton area is seeking an experienced
Senior Mechanical Designer
to join their growing team. This is an opportunity to work on challenging, one-of-a-kind equipment projects from concept through to production. You'll play a key role in the design of specialized machinery and structural systems, collaborating closely with engineering, manufacturing, and project teams to ensure successful delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of custom mechanical systems and fabricated equipment
  • Apply sound engineering principles in static and dynamic design, materials selection, and power-transmission components
  • Produce complete 3D models, detailed drawings, and bills of materials using SolidWorks and AutoCAD
  • Support design validation through calculations, simulations, and test documentation
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure manufacturability, budget, and schedule alignment
  • Review peer designs and mentor junior engineers/designers in best practices
  • Participate in project meetings, providing technical input and troubleshooting support during build and commissioning

Qualifications

  • Minimum
    5-10 years of experience
    in mechanical design for custom or industrial machinery
  • Degree or advanced diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology
  • Strong proficiency in
    SolidWorks
    ,
    AutoCAD
    , and
    MS Office Suite
  • Demonstrated experience in machine design calculations (speed, force, torque, power, etc.)
  • Familiarity with hydraulic and electro-mechanical systems, fabrication processes, and GD&T
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills
  • P.Eng. or C.E.T. designation is considered an asset
