About the role

HPAC Climate Control is seeking an experienced and skilled Senior Service and Refrigeration Technician to join our team in Christchurch, Canterbury. In this full-time role, you will be responsible for providing high-quality installation, maintenance, and repair services for a range of refrigeration, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. Your expertise will be crucial in ensuring the efficient and reliable operation of our clients' climate control equipment.

What you'll be doing

  1. Performing scheduled and emergency maintenance on a variety of air conditioning and refrigeration systems, including inspecting, testing, and diagnosing issues
  2. Completing complex installations, retrofits, and upgrades for commercial and residential HVAC equipment
  3. Troubleshooting and repairing malfunctioning A/C and R systems to restore optimal performance
  4. Providing exceptional customer service by addressing client concerns and educating them on the proper use and care of their air conditioning and refrigeration systems
  5. Maintaining accurate records of all service work and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and safety standards
  6. Collaborating with the wider team to share knowledge, identify best practices, and continuously improve our service offerings

What we're looking for

  1. Minimum 5 years of experience as a Senior Service and Refrigeration Technician or in a similar role within the HVAC industry
  2. Strong technical skills and in-depth knowledge of air conditioning and refrigeration systems, including their installation, maintenance, and repair
  3. Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment to identify and resolve HVAC system issues
  4. Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities to quickly and effectively address complex technical problems
  5. Strong customer service orientation and the ability to communicate technical information to clients in a clear and easily understandable manner
  6. Commitment to adhering to all relevant safety regulations and a proactive approach to maintaining a safe work environment
  7. A valid driver's licence and the ability to travel to client sites as needed
