As a Trainee Cable Jointer, you'll support the installation and replacement of underground distribution cables and assist with repairs to keep our network running safely and reliably. You'll learn to excavate and reinstate cable sites, work alongside skilled tradespeople, and help ensure all work meets customer, network and regulatory requirements. You'll also complete block courses and unit standards as part of your training pathway.

You'll be involved in completing field documentation, operating safely around plant and equipment, and contributing positively to team performance. Throughout your training, you'll develop problem-solving skills, apply safe work practices and support continuous improvement across the business.

Role Requirements:

You'll have a great attitude, strong communication skills and a genuine interest in the electricity industry. You'll be physically fit, comfortable working outdoors and committed to maintaining an excellent safety record. Experience working at heights or with overhead lines is an advantage but not essential. A NZ Driver Licence is required, with an HT licence desirable, and you'll have completed at least four years of secondary education. Above all, you'll be eager to learn and ready to take on a trade career with purpose.
