The Role:Director / Shareholder / Mortgage Broker

Type: Full-Time

Opportunity: The right person will have an immediate major shareholding and become a business owner/director offering the chance to shape the company's future and share in its success.

What You'll Do

Be a dynamic Director/GM contributing to Venture's mission to provide comprehensive financial solutions. You'll connect with clients, understand their aspirations across mortgages, and deliver customised mortgage solutions that align with their broader financial goals. You'll collaborate with our insurance and wealth management teams, leveraging referrals to ensure the client is wrapped up suitably. In our fast-paced, innovative culture, you'll have the freedom to chase new business, tap into emerging markets, and build a diverse client portfolio.

You will be very hands on in the short to medium term. Your new role at Venture will likely mimic exactly what you're doing day to day currently – writing mortgages... and lots of it – we're after an established broker, who loves the hunt.

In line with our aspirations, you'll also need to be on the lookout for additional brokers, building your team around the country. We have 5 locations to choose from.

This exciting opportunity comes with the relentless support of the directors and as the company grows, you will share in the dividends as a shareholder.

Your responsibilities

  • Develop and oversee the company's strategic vision, goals, and business plan.

  • Work closely with other Directors & Shareholders within the wider Venture Group to ensure cohesiveness.

  • Help your team upskill, learn and achieve their goals.

  • Oversee recruitment.

  • Manage, retain, and GROW your portfolio of clients in both residential and commercial lending.

  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities to expand your client base.

  • Build strong, lasting relationships with clients to meet their mortgage and financial needs.

  • Assess clients' financial situations and recommend suitable mortgage products and structures.

  • Negotiate with lenders to secure competitive rates and terms for clients.

  • Guide clients through mortgage applications, including pre-approvals, refinancing, and renewals.

  • Stay updated on lending trends, regulations, and market conditions.

  • Adhere to compliance, legal, and ethical standards.

What you bring

  • At least 5 years of experience in mortgage broking or related financial services.

  • NZ Certificate (Level 5) in Financial Services – Residential Property Lending (or equivalent).

  • Exceptional relationship-building and communication skills.

  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and meet key milestones.

  • Creative problem-solving to deliver optimal solutions for clients.
