Mechanical Fitter

Job description

The ideal candidate will have an ability to create and maintain a safe & efficient system of operation to support the business needs. The candidate should be comfortable multitasking and working cross-functionally with different business units. You must have previous experience in the engineering field.

The role

In this key role you will be responsible for the operational delivery of Progressive Group's service & manufacturing.  Our work involves engineering, hydraulics, electronics and mechanical design of bespoke systems and precision equipment.  You will carry out service, assembly, installation & production of a diverse range of equipment. You will champion safety and efficiency and lead by example.

You will interact with our Design Office to give feed back on designs and resolve any mechanical issues that are identified

You may work on site carrying out installation and commissioning of bespoke systems we have designed for the renewable energy sector including hydro power and geothermal energy systems.  This will involve working away from our base at times.

Responsibilities

  • All aspects of H&S in the workshop and on site
  • Establish and maintain operational standards for accuracy, productivity and reliability
  • Ensure your workplace is always safe, clean & tidy
  • Ensure all products are assembled and tested correctly with our Quality procedures
  • Read & interpret drawings and relay this information to our team
  • Assemble & Test R&D projects
  • Work harmoniously with all members of our team
  • Installation & commissioning of renewable energy projects

About you

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in a similar role involving mechanical fitting / fabrication
  • NZQA level 3 in Engineering related studies
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Strong ability to multitask
  • Proven track record related to engineering

We have a dedicated warehouse and assembly facility in Ohio, USA, which supports our US and Canadian dealers.  We also have dealers in Australia, Europe, and the UK.

We supply some of the largest equipment dealers in the world and work closely with them to continually improve our products and push the boundaries of precision grading.

We have several new products in the development phase, which will further enhance our position in the industry.

We work with the largest energy providers in NZ and have multiple projects in the pipeline involving a varied cross section of work.
