We have an opportunity to join our team as Senior Legal Counsel. The Senior Legal Counsel reports to the General Counsel and is responsible for providing high-quality and pragmatic advice, and developing legal services and resources, to ensure Hato Hone St John manages its legal obligations and organisational risks. The Legal team supports the organisation with a very wide range of issues and the Senior Counsel will be instrumental in advising on such diverse areas as:

  • Commercial & contractual matters
  • Medico-legal matters
  • Property
  • Regulatory & compliance issues
  • Governance
  • Estates & Gifts in Wills
  • Privacy
  • Safeguarding
  • Project work

Working in a unique and dynamic environment, this role provides an excellent opportunity for a senior practitioner wanting to operate as a key member of a small, highly-capable, team across a wide range of practice areas. Opportunity available in Christchurch and Auckland

Ko wai koe - About you:

  • Law degree
  • Minimum six years PQE
  • A track record of providing advice and managing legal issues within a complex, multi-stakeholder environment, including some in-house experience.
  • An ability to bring an understanding of 'best practice' and provide pragmatic and actionable legal advice to wide range of internal clients.
  • Strong analytical, attention to detail, and critical reasoning skills.
  • Strong planning, organisational skills to manage disparate activities simultaneously.
