Anshiative Enterprise Limited is looking for a skilled Café Manager to join its team in Wellington. The ideal candidate must be reliable, have strong attention to detail, and be able to manage the daily operations of the café.

Key Duties:

  • Manage daily operations to ensure efficient workflow and high service standards.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for service quality, food safety, hygiene, and workplace safety.
  • Work closely with the kitchen team to review, refine, and introduce menu offerings based on customer preferences, seasonal availability, and cost considerations.
  • Prepare and manage operational budgets, monitor financial performance, and implement effective cost-control measures to support profitability.
  • Analyse sales trends, customer feedback, and key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify opportunities for operational and revenue improvement.
  • Monitor inventory levels, forecast demand, place purchase orders, and manage supplier relationships to ensure consistent stock availability and quality.
  • Review supplier performance and negotiate pricing or terms where appropriate to improve cost efficiency.
  • Lead recruitment, onboarding, training, and ongoing development of café staff to maintain service and compliance standards.
  • Prepare and manage staff rosters, ensuring adequate coverage across all shifts while controlling labour costs.
  • Supervise, motivate, and support front-of-house and kitchen teams, fostering a positive and customer-focused workplace culture.
  • Conduct regular staff performance reviews, manage disciplinary matters where required, and support professional development.
  • Oversee cash handling, daily reconciliations, banking, and financial reporting to ensure accuracy and accountability.
  • Ensure correct opening and closing procedures are followed daily, including security checks and end-of-day reporting.
  • Plan and coordinate promotions, seasonal menus, and special events in collaboration with the kitchen and ownership.
  • Ensure full compliance with food safety, health and safety, and employment legislation, and maintain readiness for council inspections and audits.
  • Monitor food quality standards, including storage, preparation, portion control, and presentation.
  • Respond to customer feedback, enquiries, and complaints professionally, implementing improvements to enhance the guest experience.
  • Resolve staff issues and operational challenges promptly, escalating matters to management where necessary.
  • Maintain adherence to company policies and procedures while promoting a well-organised, professional, and inclusive work environment.

Required to work for a minimum of 30 hours per week and you will be paid between $25 to $35 per hour.

Other Requirements:

  • Minimum of 1 year of work experience in a managerial role or at least a Level 5 qualification in a related field.
  • Available to work on weekends.
  • Able to work well with others and communicate effectively.
  • Strong organisational and coordination capabilities.
  • Experience guiding or supervising team members.
  • Keen eye for detail with a focus on accuracy.
  • Capable of handling multiple responsibilities in a busy environment.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $25.00 – $35.00 per hour
