About the Role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Systems Administrator to join our Information Services team at Hutt City Council. This role plays a key part in maintaining and supporting the Council's IT infrastructure, ensuring stability, performance, and security across our systems and devices.

You'll provide Level 2 technical support, administer databases and hybrid systems, and contribute to projects that improve our digital environment. Working from our Laings Road offices in Lower Hutt, you'll collaborate with a supportive, forward-thinking team dedicated to enabling great outcomes for our community.

About You

You're a capable IT professional with strong experience in systems administration and desktop support. You enjoy problem-solving, working collaboratively, and continually improving how things are done.

You'll bring a customer-focused approach, excellent communication skills, and the ability to support both technical and non-technical users effectively.

You will have:

  • Advanced knowledge of workstation support (hardware, software, and peripherals)
  • Proficiency in Windows Server OS, Microsoft 365, Exchange Online, Active Directory, and Azure Entra ID
  • Experience with Intune deployment, Defender, and endpoint security management
  • Familiarity with SQL server systems, backups, and restores
  • Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and teamwork skills
  • A continuous improvement mindset and a desire to learn and grow

(Tertiary study or industry certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Systems Administrator would be advantageous.)
