The Role
As Finance Manager, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing Tramco's finance function, combining hands-on financial management with leadership, strategic insight, and commercial oversight. You will ensure the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial reporting while driving process improvements and supporting key business decisions.
- Oversee the finance function, providing hands-on financial management, strategic insight, and commercial oversight.
- Maintain the general ledger (Xero) and manage treasury, payroll, and supplier payments across the management company and property portfolios.
- Prepare NZ IFRS-compliant financial statements, reconciliations, and quarterly reporting for the Board and stakeholders.
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis, delivering actionable insights to support strategic decision-making.
- Ensure compliance with GST, FBT, PAYE, and liaise with external advisors on tax and regulatory matters
- Analyse financial performance, identify trends, risks, and opportunities, and recommend actions to improve efficiency and profitability.
- Drive process improvements across finance systems, workflows, and internal controls.
- Partner with operational and commercial teams to align financial processes with business goals and support investment and growth initiatives.
- Oversee month-end and year-end close processes and assist with audit preparation.
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- CA or CPA qualified (or equivalent) with strong knowledge of NZ accounting standards and best practices.
- Solid understanding of financial reporting, tax compliance, internal controls, and audit requirements.
- Experience with applying Co-Pilot / AI tools in a commercial finance setting at a practical level is desirable.
- Strong numerical skills with the ability to analyse and interpret financial data effectively.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and Word, with experience in Xero.
- Strategic thinker with a hands-on approach and the ability to balance operational and long-term priorities.
- Proven analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
